Purpose of medical simulators
The simulator is a technical mean of professional training of a person - operator, intended for formation and perfection of professional skills and abilities at trainees necessary for them to operate the object, by repeated fulfillment of the actions peculiar to the management by real object.
So, in a medical simulator it is artificially realized physical or functional model of human organism. Imitating a real situation in the form of educational information model, it is possible to choose for each grade level not only that information which is really necessary in the given situation, but to change the complexity of the imitated situation depending on successes of training, to change parameters and a time scale of processes, to create extreme conditions, emergency and limiting (critical) situations, simultaneously providing the maximum vital activity of the person, preservation of his functions.
Besides in simulators it is possible to stop the process any moment for discussion of development of a situation and the analysis of decisions and actions of the trainees, and also reproduction of the necessary situation for formation of required skills at trainees.
Simulators provide not only individual, but also group training of several doctors. Due to this it is obviously possible to work through a management of group of doctors and their interaction at complexification. The simulator allows to carry out constant quality control of the trainees activity, fixation of parameters of his psycho physiological condition, his training level and trainees mistakes, a storage of these data for analysis, automatic reception of objective estimations, observation over change of qualification of trainee and management of the training process as a whole.
Simulators are more and more widely used for professional selection medical staff according to their suitability to either, one or another kind of medical activity; maintenance of skills and abilities; teaching for work on new engineering; teaching to new methods of management and application of engineering; solution of research problems of designing, modelling; experimental researches of engineering and control systems of objects; improvement of manuals, techniques, instructions and programs of occupational selection, teaching, trainings. The specific tasks assigned on a simulator, depend on area of its application.
Process of functioning of a simulator and preparation of the expert can be presented as follows. The system includes two subsystems: managing and controlled - and lines of feedforward and feedback between them. The managing subsystem unites work place of the trainee with control facilities process of teaching and corresponding means of display, record and reproduction. The instructor forms the algorithm of preparation, enters entry conditions of teaching and starts a simulator. The computer complex through the conversion device gives the educational information on the information display means (IDM). Trainee evaluates and solves a set task.
The instructor, observing the actions of the trainee and a course of training, evaluates them and purposefully controls the process of teaching, simplifies, slows down, accelerates or stops the modelled process, marks mistakes and explains their reasons, supports correct actions, gives explanations, instructions, helps, encourages the trainee, etc. During training of two and more trainees there are organized some contours of modelling, management, the control and an estimation for their interaction.
